Analysis of my First Continuity Sequence
1) Our film starts with a medium shot of person if walking into a building. You can see his hand going on the door handle and begin to walk into the door. The camera angle is put more towards the right so we as an audience can see our character opening the door clearly instead of a straight angle of just our characters back.
2) Our second shot we see our character walking through the door. The transition between our first and second shot we have a match on action. This match on action was done well but if i was to do it again I would have done cut as our character put his hand on the door handle but it's still done well how it is and it works.
3) Our third shot is firstly very out of focus, although the best efforts of our cameraman she was not able to focus our shot beyond our closest character in the shot. This would count as a long take because the shot went on for 6 seconds. In this shot you can see a dimly lit corridor with two people about to collide.
4) In our forth shot you can see a close up of our characters bumping into each other. This close up works well because you can see the collision between our two characters and they have seemed to magically changed cloths during the shot. This was because we shoot over 2 different days.
5) Our fifth shot doesn't really work. Firstly our characters are not how they were the last shot they seemed to have got up and started walking again without it being seen. Secondly our camera didn't move at all between the takes. This is called jump cutting, when the camera doesn't move more than 30 degrees between shots. After the obvious mistakes you can see one of our characters chasing the other character around a bend.
6) Our sixth shot shows our characters running around that bend with a long shot to show the how far away one character is from the other. You can see towards the end of the shot you can see our taller character go to look back as he' standing under the door as our other character is now coming into shot.
7) Our seventh shot shows a close up of our tall character turning around to see how far the other character is you can see that he is still in the middle of the doorway as he was the last shot which shows good continuity between shots. throughout this film so far we have done a good job at following the 180 degree rule.
8) Our eighth shot shows our other character looking back at our character in the doorway. We can see this because our character is looking to the left hand side of the screen whereas our last shot our taller character was looking towards the right so we know that they're looking at each other.
9 and 10) Our ninth and tenth shot I'm going to do together because they are the same action just at different angles away from each other. The ninth shot shows an extreme close up of the hands locking together. This shot is done fairly well and if pretty well focused baring in fact is is very hard to focus them kind of shots. Our tenth shots cuts out wider to a medium shot of our characters hugging it out at the end. Audience feedback is that they should've kissed instead of hugged!
Overall I think this is a good continuity sequence that also plays with narrative, their was actually a story that could be followed instead of a bunch of shots that just made sense. Some criticism is that our characters should've been running full speed with real time actions instead of this theatrical slow paced running.

Good work - but please embed the video. Also to get a higher grade you need to think about illustrating it - remember the medium of the blog is a visual one!
